What “Minimum Viable Stability” Looks Like When Everything Is Changing

Whether you are navigating a divorce, a major career shift, a loss, or the quiet collapse of a season that used to fit, the default response is often panic. We try to force order onto chaos. We draft elaborate morning routines, buy planners, and attempt to assemble our next decade in an afternoon.

When your life is in transition, you do not need an optimal routine. You need Minimum Viable Stability.

Minimum Viable Stability means identifying the three non-negotiable anchors that keep your nervous system tethered when everything around you is shifting:

  • One physical anchor: A glass of water by an open window, or ten minutes of walking without headphones.
  • One mental anchor: An agreement with yourself to stop planning further out than the next 48 hours.
  • One relational anchor: One person you can tell the truth to without performing how well you’re handling things.

You don’t have to know who you are on the other side of this transition yet. For today, holding the ground right under your feet is enough.
